Was Jake Long the correct pick for the Dolphins in 2008?

June 26, 2010 By: phinfever Category: Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins

(David Blake) Of all the moves that Bill Parcells has made with the Dolphins he will always be judged for taking LT Jake Long over QB Matt Ryan at the overall #1 draft position in 2008 NFL Draft. Most analysts thought Long was the safe pick but not the correct pick as you just do not pass up on a franchise quarterback if you lack one. The Dolphins had not had a franchise quarterback since Dan the Man, but an argument could be made for Jay Fiedler’s leadership and smarts. Parcells hoped to balance that out by drafting QB Chad Henne in the 2nd round.

Justin Smiley traded/Super Bowl in NY?

(JP Correia) Ever since Bill Parcells, Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano took over this franchise, the Miami Dolphins have prided themselves on running the football with authority and stopping the run. A big piece of that ambition was Bill Parcells’ first Free Agent Acquisition as Dolphin VP, Justin Smiley. Smiley has been arguably Miami’s most consistent and reliable interior offensive lineman since arriving and has given Miami leadership on a very young and inexperienced offense and offensive line. The problem though with Smiley, just as it had been in San Francisco, is that he cannot stay healthy.

The Great Zach Thomas

May 22, 2010 By: phinfever Category: Miami Dolphins

Zach Thomas was allowed to sign a one day contract on Thursday with the Miami Dolphins and then retired a Miami Dolphin. To Zach it was an honor to retire with the team that he poured his heart into for 12 years, but we fans consider the honor all ours. He is that beloved and we appreciate the excitement and hard work that he gave our Dolphins each and every day that he wore aqua and orange.

(Excerpt: “Obviously, Brady is still the class of the division.  However, depth may be a concern.  Depth is not, however, a concern with the Dolphins, as they enter into camp with the best depth in the division and a rising star in Henne (12 tds, 14 ints, 60% cp, 75 .2 QB rating).  Sanchez, (12 tds, 20 ints, 53.8% cp,   63 QB rating) gets more hype but has yet to live up to it consistently.”)

Bills Begin Rebuilding Process

April 27, 2010 By: Billsdaily Category: Buffalo Bills

Many fans were upset that the Bills went with a luxury pick with the ninth overall pick in the draft by taking running back C.J. Spiller. I think it just proved the point that the team is in full rebuilding mode. Buddy Nix pretty much confirmed it after the draft saying this draft was just a first step in the process. More

It’s Draft Time Again!

April 20, 2010 By: Billsdaily Category: Uncategorized

The Bills are a team with a multitude of needs – quarterback, offensive line, linebacker, defensive line being chief amongst them. With the number 9 pick in a draft that is considered well stocked with talent the Bills have an opportunity to get their hands on a very solid player. The question is who will that player be and what position will he play? more

Draft Represents New Beginning

April 19, 2010 By: Billsdaily Category: Buffalo Bills

The 2010 draft will be interesting to watch from a Bills perspective for the fact that there is a new regime. Most fans still don’t know what to think of the duo of Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey but these are the men at the controls and they will look to take the players that will help the Bills build a winner from the ground up. They won’t admit it is a full fledge rebuilding project but it is and rebuilding starts with the draft. More!
