F2FA Mock

April 11, 2009 By: crusso27 Category: Uncategorized

1 Detroit Matthew Stafford QB Georgia 6/2 225 4.81
Stafford is a strong arm QB who often relies to much on his physical abilities. But the talent is there to be developed. He can certainly launch the deep ball to Calvin Johnson. The Lions cannot really afford to come out of this draft without a QB.

2 St. Louis Jason Smith OT Baylor 6/5 309 5.09
The Rams aren’t fooling anybody, they need a Tackle after losing Pace, and Smith might be the best of the bunch.

3 Kansas City Aaron Curry OLB Wake Forest 6/2 254 4.52
The Chiefs had a terrible defense last year and Curry is probably the best Defensive player on the board.

4 Seattle Eugene Monroe OT Virginia 6/5 309 5.18
The Hawks have more flexibility than people think on the Offensive Line, so maybe they take Sanchez here, but it could be hard to pass up on solidifying the OLine.

5 Cleveland Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech 6/2 215 4.54
The Browns have a major lack of Receiving threats. Crabtree and Edwards could be a lethal duo, and Crabtree would give the Brown some leverage with Edwards next year.

6 Cincinnati Andre Smith OT Alabama 6/4 332 5.28
The Bengals have to address the OLine and Smith is best Lineman left. Despite his sloppy body he still has very good moves and technique for a guy his size.

7 Oakland Percy Harvin WR Florida 5/11 192 4.39
Look for the Raiders to continue the trend of SEC speed and power with the explosive game changing Harvin.

8 Jacksonville Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri 6/1 198 4.45
The Jags have had lots of trouble getting a number one WR, Jerry Porter didn’t work out and he was released.

9 Green Bay B.J. Raji DT Boston College 6/2 337 5.12
Raji might drop because some teams get cold feet about his history with Weed, but if the Pack get a shot at him than it’s a no brainer. He could be their NT.

10 San Francisco Brian Orakpo DE Texas 6/3 263 4.63
The Niners pass rush is has been no good and needs a boost. Orakpo might be a classic pass rushing linebacker.

11 Buffalo Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma State 6/6 263 4.80
The Bills need a TE, but Pettigrew is also an excellent blocker, which will come in real handy against their division rivals that all run 34 defenses.

12 Denver Mark Sanchez QB Southern California 6/2 227 4.93
The Broncos might strike gold here if Sanchez falls to them. I would still be worried about the Seahawks.

13 Washington Tyson Jackson DE LSU 6/4 296 4.94
Jackson is the best front seven player available here. Don’t let his size fool you, his frame holds his weight well and he has the moves and closing speed to be a dominant force along that Redskins line.

14 New Orleans Chris Wells RB Ohio State 6/1 235 4.52
The Saints are in perfect position to infuse their secondary with young talent. But they won’t and never do, instead opting to bring in a revolving door of Veterans. Beanie Wells would be a steal here anyway and a nice complement to Bush.

15 Houston Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio State 6/1 204 4.51
The Texans are always needing help in the Secondary, Jenkins is just that. He is also excellent value here. They could look at help at Linebacker, but they have two young guys in Adibi and Diles, they also brought in June.

16 San Diego Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia 5/11 217 4.50
Knowshon is excellent value here and can be LT’s heir. Moreno runs well between the tackles and showcases some nasty moves. He also catches and blocks well.

17 N.Y. Jets Josh Freeman QB Kansas State 6/6 248 4.90
It’s no secret the Jets are not satisfied with the QB situation, so look for them to bring in some strong armed help.

18 Denver (from Chicago) Everette Brown DE Florida State 6/2 256 4.65
Brown is exactly the Pass Rushing specialist the Broncos could use to get that 34 defense going. As long as he doesn’t have to drop into coverage too often. Watch out for Ayers and Matthews here.

19 Tampa Bay Peria Jerry DT Mississippi 6/2 299 4.98
The Bucs have never really addressed the Under Tackle position since Sapp left. This could be their chance.

20 Detroit (from Dallas) Michael Oher OT Mississippi 6/5 309 5.34
This could be a real coup here for the Lions if they end up with both a potential franchise QB and OT.

21 Philadelphia Eben Britton OT Arizona 6/6 309 5.14
Andy Reid has played it cool about his Tackle situation, but why risk it, Britton is very solid.

22 Minnesota Vontae Davis CB Illinois 5/11 203 4.40
Davis is risky here but if he realizes his potential than it give the Vikings stability in the secondary that they haven’t seen in a while.

23 New England Rey Maualuga ILB Southern California 6/2 249 4.81
The Pats like Rey to take over the “Ted” position. I guess they’ll change it to the “Rey” when he does.

24 Atlanta Brian Cushing OLB Southern California 6/3 243 4.64
Losing Boley and Brooking, the Falcons could use some help at Linebacker that Cushing can definitely bring.

25 Miami Clay Matthews OLB Southern California 6/3 240 4.62
Clay has been a favorite pick for the Texans in mocks, but with the Texans bringing in Linebackers in Free Agency they may opt for help in the Secondary. It’s possible that Matthews gets picked before Cushing, which would drop Cushing, and that is just fine with me. Both players have the ability to play strong side in a 34 and be very good at it. In reality the Phins should be able land one of four pass rushers here, either Brown, Cushing, Matthews, or Ayers, it just depends on the order they go in.

26 Baltimore Darrius Heyward-Bey WR Maryland 6/2 210 4.25
Bey has supposedly been on the Ravens radar, and its not a surprise considering they have no deep threat and Mason is 35.

27 Indianapolis Hakeem Nicks WR North Carolina 6/1 212 4.51
Colts lost Harrison and they need to keep a fresh group of Receiving threats available for Manning.

28 Philadelphia (from Carolina) Donald Brown RB Connecticut 5/10 210 4.46
The Eagles have been looking at Brown very heavily. He could spell Westbrook until Westbrook gets injured.

29 N.Y. Giants Kenny Britt WR Rutgers 6/3 218 4.50
Giants lost their tall playmaker in Burress. Maybe Britt fills the need, somebody needs to.

30 Tennessee Aaron Maybin DE Penn State 6/4 249 4.78
The Titans got some good success out of their rookie DE Jones last year, but he could play more inside this year with the loss of Haynesworth. Maybin might be the best player on the board here.

31 Arizona Robert Ayers DE Tennessee 6/3 272 4.77
The Cards are trying to transition to a traditional 34 and are ready to start shedding their older Linebackers.

32 Pittsburgh Alex Mack C California 6/4 307 5.17
The Steelers weakest point is on the Offensive Line. Mack is the best Lineman here.

33 Detroit James Laurinaitis ILB Ohio State 6/2 244 4.76

34 New England (from Kansas City) Connor Barwin OLB Cincinnati 6/4 256 4.59

35 St. Louis Darius Butler CB Connecticut 5/11 183 4.41

36 Cleveland Larry English OLB Northern Illinois 6/2 255 4.82

37 Seattle Louis Delmas FS Western Michigan 6/1 202 4.52

38 Cincinnati Michael Johnson DE Georgia Tech 6/7 266 4.69

39 Jacksonville Evander Hood DT Missouri 6/3 300 4.83

40 Oakland Ron Brace DT Boston College 6/3 330 5.48

41 Green Bay Lawrence Sidbury DE Richmond 6/3 266 4.53

42 Buffalo Paul Kruger DE Utah 6/4 263 4.83

43 San Francisco William Beatty OT Connecticut 6/6 307 5.06

44 Miami (from Washington) Sean Smith CB Utah 6/4 214 4.50
The Phins have shown interest in Smith and he should be available here. Some say Smith is one of the better cover corners in the draft, along with Darius Butler.

45 N.Y. Giants (from New Orleans) Alphonso Smith CB Wake Forest 5/9 193 4.47

46 Houston LeSean McCoy RB Pittsburgh 5/11 204 4.50

47 New England (from San Diego) D.J. Moore CB Vanderbilt 5/10 192 4.56

48 Denver Jamon Meredith OT South Carolina 6/5 304 4.99

49 Chicago Brian Robiskie WR Ohio State 6/3 209 4.46

50 Cleveland (from Tampa Bay) Jared Cook TE South Carolina 6/5 246 4.49

51 Dallas Rashad Johnson FS Alabama 5/11 203 4.49

52 N.Y. Jets Jarron Gilbert DE San Jose State 6/5 288 4.81

53 Philadelphia Max Unger C Oregon 6/5 309 5.26

54 Minnesota Philip Loadholt OT Oklahoma 6/8 332 5.49

55 Atlanta Shawn Nelson TE Southern Mississippi 6/5 240 4.52

56 Miami Duke Robinson OG Oklahoma 6/5 329 5.32
The Duke is a big boy that can provide huge running lanes. The two time All American is excellent at getting to the second level and bullying Linebackers. He would compete for a starting job and provide much needed depth in the interior.

57 Baltimore Clint Sintim OLB Virginia 6/3 256 4.75

58 New England Cornelius Ingram TE Florida 6/4 245 4.68

59 Carolina Eric Wood C Louisville 6/4 310 5.19

60 N.Y. Giants William Moore SS Missouri 6/1 221 4.56

61 Indianapolis Andre Brown RB North Carolina State 6/1 224 4.37

62 Tennessee Marcus Freeman OLB Ohio State 6/1 239 4.65

63 Arizona James Casey TE Rice 6/3 246 4.74

64 Pittsburgh Jairus Byrd CB Oregon 5/10 207 4.58
