Written by C. D. Angeli - PackerChatters Staff. An interesting discussion/ debate/ argument over the past few weeks of the Summer Melodrama has been how important Favre has been to the Packers. With his trade to the Jets today, we shall soon get a pretty strong idea of what it will be like without his large shadow looming over the team. There are folks on one side of the issue, most voraciously in defense of Brett Favre, who are insisting that Favre was pretty much single-handedly responsible for the renaissance of the 1990’s, that it was he who pulled the organization out from the muck that was the 70’s and 80’s. They also claim that he was responsible for influencing Reggie White to come to the Packers, and without him, the new Lambeau Field would never have been built. Read more….

Written by PackerChatters Staff. The Packers have agreed to terms on a four-year contract with wide receiver Jordy Nelson, their first draft pick in the April draft. No other terms were disclosed. That leaves quarterback Brian Brohm as the only unsigned draft pick. Brohm’s contract should get done as well after the Miami Dolphins and Chad Henne reportedly agreed on a four-year, $3.5 million contract. Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports Brett Favre has informed Packers GM Ted Thompson he is planning to return to the team and report to training camp this weekend. Schefter goes on to say if Favre follows through on his plans, he is expected to fax a letter seeking reinstatement to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell as early as Friday, before the Packers report to camp on Saturday. Well, I have heard, from various people and friends of mine, that there are 6 teams interested in Favre, they are the Buccaneers, Dolphins, Jets, Redskins, Panthers and Bills. The Jets are reportedly not in the running because of “cap constraints” and the Redskins are “not open to Favre” because of their belief in Jason Campbell and the price tag (the dealt their 2nd rounder to Miami for Jason Taylor and don’t want to give up their 1st round pick). As the GM hired back in 1992, he was the mastermind who brought in guys like Mike Holmgren, Brett Favre, Reggie White, and won a Super Bowl in a brilliant five-year plan. The other night at the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, nearly everyone put the recent Thompson/Favre drama on hold, except the media, of course, who made sure to pepper everyone with a question about the situation. Most of them, thankfully, declined to comment, including Favre, who despite concerns about whether or not he’d show up or be a distraction, was a classy pro all night. Read more…

Rodgers has waited for 3 years, done all the right things publicly and, a side from his comments a few weeks back, said all the right things from day 1. He has progressed as a player and as a person. In March, the Green Bay Packers thought they had dodged that occurrence with the “retirement” of Brett Favre. At that press conference in Green Bay, an emotional Favre noted that, while he felt he could still play, he had nothing left to give to the game. Of course, Favre had danced around retirement for the last several years and had always come back to play. Given that he actually took the step this time to “officially” announce his retirement, there was no reason other than wishful thinking for anyone not to take him at his word. Full Story

Here is what we KNOW. Mortenson broke the other day that Brett had the itch to return. In my opinion that is totally normal. I think we can all agree that everyone across the world expected these feelings. Al Harris agrees and confirms that Brett said that. Al really should of not said anything.
