It’s a topic that has been widely discussed in the forums here on the deck…How does this 2008 Bucs Squad match up against the Super Bowl XXXVII Champions from 2002? It’s not too often that we’re all hoping the Bucs will be at home for the Super Bowl this year…but that’s because this year, the Super Bowl is actually at home…This team knows this is a once in a century opportunity…

I’m surprised that some actually believed me when I said I was on the 10-6 bandwagon. I’m even more surprised that some of you believed I was exasperated and suicidal over the results of the first game of the season. If you guys should know anything about me right now, it’s that I don’t get too high or too low.

There was no pride for the Browns on Sunday. There was no, “You’re gonna have to work for every inch in our house,” on Sunday. There was no aggression on Sunday, moxie, attitude. Cleveland resembled the “new” teams of old, resurrecting the “pathetic” label we so infamously earned while playing without emotion. Dallas walked all over us. Full Story

The sight of Tom Brady laying on his back showed fans who have followed his pro career from it’s beginning something we’ve never seen before—the ugly sight of The King of the World with abject fear and pain in his eyes. Brady The Fearless scared out of his wits. That was a wake-up call if I’ve ever seen one. Brady, through his words and actions in his 8 years in New England, had seemed somehow impervious to the same hammer of the Gods which falls at random on other, more mortal, players, but we got reminded in a hurry that the guy is actually made of flesh and bone. He didn’t always win, didn’t always save the damsel in distress or the kitten up a tree, didn’t always maintain an ethereal cool and composure, but did it often enough so that we weren’t really sure if he was a regular human being or not.

If you read the forum over at our F2FA Jets Insider site you would think that Brett Favre is going to roll all over the Dolphins on Sunday. I do not deny that he still has that quick strike ability and several good receivers to throw to. In fact, his receivers can outcatch our receivers 7 days a week … but Favre has to get them the ball. They cannot catch the ball if the ball doesn’t get there.

Written by C. D. Angeli - PackerChatters Staff - Back in the early 1990’s, there was a catchphrase that seemed to sum up the week-to-week fortunes of the Green Bay Packers. Perhaps you all remember it:
“As Favre goes, so go the Packers…” Fast-forward around fifteen years, and there is no longer a Brett Favre to pin the fortunes of our team on. But, interestingly enough, it doesn’t seem to be placed on his successor, Aaron Rodgers, either. Rodgers isn’t the kind of quarterback that elevates the level of play around him (as evidenced by the shocking number of dropped passes this offseason) or negates it, either. After catching up and watching all three preseason games played by the Packers, I’ve developed a new catchphrase that I doubt will catch on, but nevertheless has the ring of truth in it. Read more…

The Browns seemingly have been looking for help in their secondary since the minute CB Daven Holly went down with a torn ACL in mini-camp. They acquired veteran Terry cousins a couple of months ago and Wednesday added another CB by trading for Miami Dolphins CB Travis Daniels. Full Story…

The butterflies in the stomachs of Bucs fans everywhere were waiting for the first contact of the Pre-Season before they would subside. It didn’t take long to satisfy those butterflies. On the opening kickoff, Safety Donte Nicholson put a good pop on the Dolphins kick returner…and from there, you just sat back and watched. Although most people consider these exhibition games meaningless…They are far from that if you want to get the right 53 men on your roster for opening day. With that hit, Nicholson may have taken one step closer to being one of those 53 men. On the very next play Barrett Ruud stopped Ronnie Brown behind the line of scrimmage for a one yard loss. And that set the tone for the Bucs defense as they allowed the Dolphins to rack up only 198 yards on offense throughout the game.
