The Bills reversed recent late game failures by scoring 24 fourth quarter points in a resounding 31-14 win over Miami. Fred Jackson scored two touchdowns in the final quarter as he ran his first in from the three to tie the game. Rian Lindell hit a career long 56 yard field goal to give the Bills the lead. Miami’s last three possessions would end an interceptions. The Bills went for the knockout punch after the first of those picks. Ryan Fitzpatrick hit Terrell Owens for a 51 yard score to put the game away. Jackson’s second touchdown run put the exclamation point on the victory. Fitzpatrick had a 31 yard touchdown run to tie the game in the 2nd quarter.

(By Rory Lee - PC Staff) - Last week, after the Packers’ suffocating defensive performance against the Cowboys, I suggested that we might be witnessing a shift in this team’s core strength: that is, although the Packers have been an offensive-oriented team for the last decade, their defense might slowly be becoming the dominating unit. All this was said cautiously, however, and I made sure to include the caveat that it was too soon to tell, at least definitively, which unit was better: after all, the offense has many weapons, two of whom—Jermichael Finley and Jordy Nelson—just returned from injury. Regardless, I felt relatively safe proclaiming that we were starting to see some much needed balance in Packerland: both the offense and defense are capable of taking over a given game.
Last week I also said that “it’s amazing what a difference a week makes” and that “I just hope I don’t find myself saying that next week.”Well, here we are, a week later, and I’m saying it: what a difference a week makes.

In all honesty, I don’t see the Bills landing any of their top candidates – there is simply too much competition and too many potentially better opportunities for those in high demand. The challenge will become finding one of the second tier candidates who will be a fit and make the right football decisions to start to get Buffalo back on track.

Ryan Fitzpatrick got his first career start that wasn’t because of an injury and threw the ball well after a shaky start. His 98 yard bomb to Owens for a score was a perfect throw and perfect call on the audible. He didn’t start off so well as he misfired on his first pass and his second one was picked off. He threw at least three other near picks but for the most part was accurate with his passing. He did take too long to snap the ball just before halftime that almost cost the Bills a field goal. He did throw for 297 yards in the game which we haven’t seen in some time by any QB on this team. Grade B+: Showed a gun slinger mentality that has been missing.

David Garrard hit Mike Sims-Walker for a three yard touchdown pass with :56 left to give the Jaguars a come from behind 18-15 win over the Bills. Buffalo played hard for interim coach Perry Fewell and took a 15-10 lead on a team record 98 yard touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Terrell Owens in the third quarter. He called an audible on the play and made a perfect pass. A fake extra point failed to get the two points after that score. Rian Lindell hit three first half field goals to keep the Bills close. A last ditch effort to tie the game ended when Fitzpatrick threw an interception from the Jaguars 46 yards line to wrap up the game. Fitzpatrick fell three yards short of becoming the first Bills quarterback to throw for 300 yards in 45 games.

The Bills head to Florida for a matchup with the surging Jaguars who are now over .500 for the first time this year as they have won two straight and three of their last four. The Bills come to town after a roller coaster week that included the firing of Dick Jauron on Tuesday and a change in starting quarterbacks. It will be interesting to see how they react to the upheaval. Ryan Fitzpatrick gets his first career start by choice. His other starts have been because of injuries.

The uniforms were orange and white, the stands were packed with Cheeseheads, and there was a hint of fall in the air. If you squinted real hard, you could almost picture Brett Favre behind center for Green Bay, Trent Dilfer taking snaps for the Bucs, and tortuous aluminum benches replacing the cushy individual seats no fans occupied in the upper reaches of Ray Jay.

(by David Grotefend) I’ve thought a lot about what my piece this week would be. I decided it would be best if I simply confronted some truths, and focused on what the Dolphins can do to get back in it.
